A FRESH SYSTEM TO BREAK YOUR RUTS AND REINVENT YOUR TANGO
Hi, we're Mitra and Dave. We're Tango geeks living in LA and we created The Tango Lexicon together. It took us about five years and we practiced and thought about it a lot.
Our initial goal was to create a system for remembering Tango figures. Over time, the challenge of developing a simple, easy-to-use notation system for Argentine Tango taught us so much about the deep structure of Tango, creativity, and even collaboration.
People have asked us to show the system to them and it is exciting to see how they use it! We love sharing our invention and we would love to show you and your Tango practice friends how to use it.
Mitra has a deep and detailed understanding of Tango, and a magnetic joy in imparting it, from her experiences over the past 18 years as a social dancer (following and leading), DJ, teacher, community organizer. She is the Director of Oxygen Tango in LA. www.mitramartin.com
Dave has been dancing Tango for over a decade. He spent several years in Buenos Aires studying across a variety of styles, most consistently at the Dinzel studio in Villa Crespo. He is fascinated by the process of conscious growth in tango, and is especially interested in expanding improvisational possibilities through a deep knowledge of tango structure. He has found that studying the language of tango figures transforms and stimulates his own dancing, and he's excited to share it with other dancers with similarly analytical minds.
